Private Courtyard Green Wall, Knightsbridge
Project Details
- Restricted space for the building work
- Bespoke steel frame fitting to preserve an old garden wall
Green walls are a popular choice for courtyard gardens in high-end residential properties, as they make the most of outside vertical space when the garden is small. The owners of this four storey, period townhouse, located in one of London’s most prestigious areas, Knightsbridge, wanted to see beautiful greenery from the vantage point of their contemporary glass cube living room extension.
Biotecture designed a courtyard green wall to cover the whole of their garden perimeter, incorporating an integrated water feature by Clifton Nurseries.
To maintain the integrity of an old garden wall, shared with neighbours, the panels were fixed to a steel frame, specially erected for the purpose. The whole length was finished with planted top boxes, to mask the construction and to give a pleasing visual aesthetic from all angles, including the neighbours’ upstairs rooms.
One of the client’s concerns was that the irrigation pumps were going to be very close to the outdoor seating area. Biotecture fitted a quiet pump system within an attractive, bespoke timber unit, which sits unobtrusively in a corner.

Biotecture is very experienced at working in high end residential projects which have no rear access to the garden. We are adept at transferring all the materials through the property itself, taking extreme care that everything is safe and tidy at all times.
