Private Garden space saving green wall, Belgravia
Project Details
- Two separate living walls
- Garden designed by Luciano Giubbelei
- Space saving green wall to make the most of available garden
Two living walls designed and installed by Biotecture make a stunning addition to the garden of this period property in London. They are located at either end of the garden and extend down into the lower courtyard areas, blending perfectly with a water feature at the base. The living walls complement the elegant and contemporary style of the garden, which was designed by Luciano Giubbelei.
The walls are composed of an intricate plant design. Dark green plants, such as Euonymus ‘Dart’s Blanket’ and Pachysandra terminalis, densely populate the base of the walls, before gradually merging into the lighter foliage of Acorus gramineus and Euphorbia myrsinites, with its lime green flowers in summer, at the top. The darker plants at the base of the wall were appropriately chosen for the lower level as they are more shade tolerant species.
In summer, the wall blossoms with blue flowers from Veronica ‘Georgia Blue’ and the purple flowers of Vinca minor and Festuca amethystina.
The garden for this property is a fairly small space and the client was keen to include as many plants as possible without compromising on other elements of the design. Living walls were the obvious choice because they offer an opportunity to introduce a large number and variety of plants while using a very small footprint. small spaces, especially city gardens can really benefit from the calming properties of plants making them into mini oasis’s away from every day pressures.
