Garden Centre Display Living Wall, Dubai

    Project Details

    • Water efficient irrigation
    • Part of the experimental trials in Dubai

The 16m2 living wall at the Acacia garden centre in Dubai has been thriving and is a product of the relationship between Biotecture and Uniflora LLC. The wall was installed in the latter part of 2012 as part of the trials in Dubai to test Biotecture’s hydroponic system within the more water scarce conditions of the GCC Countries. A modified irrigation system is in place to ensure that the plants receive adequate hydration and nutrient levels. This highly efficient system irrigates the wall more frequently, but for shorter periods of time. Overall more water is required in this hotter, drier climate, but the living wall uses only six litres of water per day, significantly less than the five litres per day used for traditional plant growth in Dubai.
