Earlier this spring Biotecture started work on one of Europe’s largest living wall installations, as part of the £90 million expansion of McArthurGlen Ashford Designer Outlet . The 120,000 plants that comprise the living wall are being grown in Biotecture’s nursery in West Sussex. The plants required for the project incorporate leafy greens, background foliage and seasonal colour, including Boxleaf Honeysuckle, Ivy, Rose of Sharon, Heuchera and Viola. Biotecture are designing, growing and installing the £1.5 million living wall, which when complete will make McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford, one of the world’s greenest shopping centres.

Once complete in Autumn 2019, the 2300 sq. metre living wall installation will become one of Kent’s must-see attractions. The living wall is set to create a stunning atmosphere with the new entry promenade, various walkways and many of the new stores covered in beautiful gardens.
Richard Sabin, Biotecture Managing Director said: “This is a fabulous project. We are working with McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford’s construction partner, McLaren, and landscape architects, Applied Landscape Design, to deliver the living wall and have taken on additional nursery space to accommodate the 8,000 or so hydroponic growing panels.”
