Last week we waved goodbye to Campbell Thorpe our Plant Manager who is stepping back from day to day work to enjoy a well-deserved break and spend more time on the other areas of his life.
For over 10 years, Campbell has been an invaluable member of the nursery team. Back in 2012 Richard approached him about renting his nursery in Almodington and the rest is history. It wasn’t just a nursery he had to offer, he also had boundless dedication and expert horticultural knowledge so Biotecture took him on full time. Since then, he has supported hundreds of projects and helped shape the company that Biotecture has become.
Our Operations Manager Mark Fleming says “Campbell has been invaluable to the business, he will be missed by everyone, especially the projects team! Thankfully Campbell will still be available for consultancy work to smooth the transition process. Good luck with the next chapter, Campbell!”
Earlier in the week Jess, our marketing exec popped down to the nursery to ask him about his time at Biotecture and his plans for ‘retirement’.
Q: Do you have a project you are most proud of?
‘I’m proud of all of them, you have to take care of all of them equally and make sure they are the best they can be.’
Q: Is there one that’s most memorable?
McArthurGlen’s new Paris-Giverny Designer Shopping Outlet ; over the years we have come up with a tired and tested plant pallette for our living walls, Patrick Blanc’s plant design for this project challenged us to work with a different slection of plants than usual.
Q: What will you miss about Biotecture?
The walk to work! (about 10 metres!)
Q: What won’t you miss about Biotecture?
The cold winters and the hot days under the glass!
Q: So what’s next for you?
I’m heading off in my campervan to explore the East coast of Britain. I’m also not really retiring, I’m changing careers to house husband, carer, cook etc! I will also be available to Biotecture on a consultancy basis.
